The ESFLEA is sad to report that James “Barney” Ferguson, one of the founding members of the Emerald Society of the Federal Law Enforcement Agencies, died Saturday, May 31st, at Calvary Hospice in the Bronx. He was 77 and had been battling cancer and other ailments for years. James retired from the NYPD in 1979 as a homicide detective and was a dedicated member of dozens of Irish, police, and Catholic organizations. He will be greatly missed!
